Arrive in Cape Town, after border formalities, transfer to B&B hotel. You will be able to choose your program in Cape Town at the booking stage.
We recommend that you arrive in Cape Town not less than 2 days prior to the scheduled date of departure to Antarctica, because departure depends on the weather and can be moved to the day ahead.

Morning stand-alone program or program you choose at booking stage. At 4:00 pm, in the Antarctic Club, the pre-flight briefing will take place. During the briefing, you will receive information on your flight to Antarctica, weather forecasting, visiting Antarctica, etc. You will meet with your guide who will answer all your questions. After that, gear will be tested and you will be issued special Antarctic warm clothes. In the evening you will have time to pack for the upcoming trip.

Self-chosen program, return to the hotel no later than 18:00, we draw your attention to the fact that the flight to Antarctica depends on many factors (weather, the state of the runway, etc.), so at 18:00 you will receive a final confirmation of departure. If the decision is made to take off, at 21:00 you will transfer to the airport. At 23:30 you will depart by IL-76 plane on the route Cape Town - Novolazarevskaya. Flight time, 5.5 -6 hours

You will fly over what is sometimes called the Southern Ocean: it is the junction of the Atlantic and Indian Oceans, but it is impossible to determine their boundaries. Your plane will cross the Antarctic Circle (66.5 degrees South). There in the polar zone begin the polar day and the polar night. From November to February there is polar day, when part of the sun's disk is visible above the horizon for 24 hours of the day. You will arrive at the airfield of Novolazarevskaya station at about 3:30 pm, local time. There is a snow-ice airfield, which functions only during in November and December and from late January through February.
After landing, you get your luggage and transfer to a complex of guest houses called "Oasis". This will be your base during the Antarctic journey. The guest house is located in the Schirmacher Oasis, on a rocky, ice-coated surface 14 km from the runway. To get there takes approximately 20-30 minutes in a jeep. The wooden houses of the complex are cozy and comfortable and have rooms that can accommodate 1-5 people, a kitchen, electricity, hot water, shared showers, a toilet and a Russian bath. Upon arrival you will be escorted to your room where you can relax after an overnight flight.
At 14:00 you will be invited for dinner, after which begins a tour of the Antarctic Oasis. You will visit the Russian Antarctic research station, Novolazarevskaya (sometimes, for the sake of brevity, called Novo), located approximately 400 meters from the base of "Oasis”. You will go on a tour of the research station. They will tell you about the history of the station and how they conduct scientific research.

You will take a 3-hour walk to the shore of the continent. Schirmacher Oasis is a glacier with a thickness of 50 to 100 meters and extends over 70 km to the north. Only from there can you see the ocean. In some parts of the oasis tidal cracks have formed and the ice melts from the sun-warmed rocks, forming small lakes. If the weather and the snow allow it, you can go and see ice caves whose glitters with all shades of blue. Fans of winter swimming can plunge into the water of the Antarctic lakes. You will see skuas - southern polar birds - and if lucky, Adelie penguins. In the evening a delicious dinner awaits you.

After receiving the go-ahead from the meteorological service, you will fly to Atka Bay to observe the colony of Emperor penguins. You will have the unique opportunity to observe them from the plane and see the extraordinary beauty of the Queen Maud Land mountain range. In order not to scare the penguins and not to disturb their peace, the plane will land 5 kilometers away from the colony. You will trek on skis or on foot (depending on the state of the surface). You will spend a few hours in the area watching penguins and walking on ice to catch similar sights. In these places you can meet various Antarctic animals such as polar skuas, snow petrels, Adelie penguins and seals. At 300 meters from the colony for you will find a heated tent with a toilet, a lounge and a dining room. In the evening you will return to the runway for a flight to the base. Rest, wine, bath, dinner!

Queen Maud Mountains are the most fascinating mountains in the world. After breakfast you will drive in an all-terrain vehicle that will take you to the foot of one of the peaks. You have to conquer one of the peaks of these unique mountains. Climbing skills are not necessary and climbing equipment may not be necessary. When you reach the top the main prize will be the magnificent, unique and unforgettable landscape. You will see fabulous sculptures created by wind and ice. Going down from the summit you will return to the Landrover, which will take you to the base.

A day to relax - you can sleep, watch movies, go to the sauna or walk near the base. This day is also needed as a reserve in case of unfavorable weather. After dinner, your guide will tell you about the flight to the South Pole and the history of its conquest. You also have time to prepare for the flight.

Day 9 and Day 10

The most exciting event of the Antarctic expedition will be a flight to the South Pole. After breakfast and a report by the meteorological unit, you will go to the airport. This is where your unforgettable journey begins. Departure by Basler BT-67 plane, southbound, you will fly over the Queen Maud Mountains and further over the Antarctic Plateau. During the flight you will have a breathtaking view from above on the mountains and glaciers. Do not forget get your photo and video cameras ready in advance! After a 4-hour flight you will make an intermediate landing on the ice plateau to refuel. Here the height of the glacier reaches 2, 500 meters above sea level. In the Antarctic the air is more rarefied than at the same height in other mountains. Refueling should take about an hour, you will be able to leave the plane and stretch your legs. From here to the Pole it is still about 800 kilometers away, or a 3-hour flight.
The South Pole is a unique place on earth. All meridians converge here, the notion of time ceases to exist and each direction is north. Only at the pole can you travel around the world in just a few minutes, making a circle around the Earth's axis. You will have an hour or two to take photos for your memories and explore the surrounding area. Be careful. You are at an altitude of 2,800 meters above sea level, which corresponds to an altitude of 3,500 in ordinary mountains. You may feel symptoms of altitude sickness (dizziness and slight headache). To avoid this, move slowly and do not lift heavy things. If necessary, the guide will give you a pill for altitude sickness.
You will stop for the night at the camp, located 22 kilometers from the South Pole. Overnight in heated tents and food are included in this journey. In the morning you will continue the flight to the South Pole American Amundsen-Scott South Pole Station. It was named in honor of the discoverers of the Pole, the Norwegian polar explorer Amundsen and the British explorer Scott. On arrival you will be met by a representative of the polar Antarctic program and you will be given a tour of the station. The station has a souvenir shop and a post office, so there is an opportunity to put names on envelopes and to buy gifts (in United States dollars only). In the evening, return to Novolazarevskaya station

After breakfast you will continue for the whole day with your journey to the ice barrier. You will ride in Toyota Hilux cars that have been modified in Iceland for polar travel. You will need about 3 hours to get to the barrier, where a snack will be offered.
The ice barrier is the edge of the ice shelf from which icebergs break off to drift toward the Southern Ocean. Here you have a great chance to meet penguins and see seals lying on the ice near the holes or cracks. To the north of the barrier icebergs obscure the horizon. In late summer, Antarctic ships that bring cargo to the Antarctic stations can navigate here.

After a leisurely breakfast and a stroll through the Oasis, you will transfer to the airbase and from there you fly out by IL-76 aircraft back to warm and sunny Cape Town. Arrival late in the evening and transfer to the hotel
